Quick start

The guided manual check takes about ninety seconds once you have a tape measure in hand. Do it standing in the bathroom you’re measuring.

Name the room. Give it something you’ll recognise later — “guest bath”, “upstairs” — so saved reports stay sortable.
Measure the rough-in. From the finished wall behind the toilet to the centre of the bolt caps at the base. Measure to the bolt centres, not to the front or back edge of the base.
Measure side clearance. From the centreline of the bowl out to the nearest obstruction on each side — wall, vanity, or the swing of the door.
Measure front clearance. From the front edge of the bowl to whatever you’d hit first walking toward it.
Record pressure and flow. The app explains how to take each reading at the supply valve. If you don’t have a figure, leave it blank rather than estimating.
Locate the outlet. Measure the distance along the path a cord would actually run, and note whether the outlet is GFCI-protected.
Read the report. Every verified model is checked against your numbers. Open any check to see the comparison and its source.

If you aren’t sure, say so

Leaving a field blank, or marking it “not sure”, is the correct answer when you don’t know. The check will read Needs a check in the report, which is accurate. Guessing a number to make the report look complete is the one thing that can turn a good report into a bad decision.

Troubleshooting

The questions that come up most often.

Every model says “Needs a check”

A check reads that way when the app is missing information it needs. If it is happening across every model, one of the shared measurements — usually pressure, flow, or the GFCI question — is still blank.

Reopen the measurement for that room and fill in what you can. Checks that were unresolved settle as soon as the figure exists.

My rough-in measurement doesn’t match anything

Measure to the centre of the bolt caps on the floor, from the finished wall — the drywall or tile surface, not the baseboard and not the framing behind it. Measuring from the baseboard is the most common cause of a figure that reads too small.

If your bolts sit at a distance no model expects, that is real information, and the report will show which models it rules out.

I can’t get a water pressure reading

Leave it blank. The pressure check will read “Needs a check” and every other check still runs normally. You can add the reading later, and the report updates without re-measuring anything else.

How do I tell whether the outlet is GFCI-protected?

Look for TEST and RESET buttons on the outlet itself. If they are not there, the outlet may still be protected by a GFCI device upstream on the same circuit, often in another room or at the panel.

If you cannot confirm it, mark it unknown and have a licensed electrician verify it. Do not assume protection is present.

My saved reports are gone

Reports are stored on the device only. There is no account and no cloud copy, so deleting the app removes them, and they do not follow you to a new phone through a sign-in.

If a report matters, share its private link before you delete or replace the device. The measurements are encoded after the link’s # marker and are not stored by bidets.app; anyone you send the full link to can open it.

The model I want isn’t listed

Version 1.0 covers 4 verified models. A model is only added once its specifications have been sourced from the manufacturer’s own documentation, which is why the catalogue grows slowly. Write to us with the model you are considering.

A source link won’t open

Source links, shared reports, and disclosed merchant links open in Safari and need a connection. Manufacturers also move documents from time to time — if a link is dead, tell us the model and the check and we will re-source it.

How specifications are verified

A model does not enter the catalogue because a retail listing said something. Every requirement behind every check is taken from the manufacturer’s own published documentation for that specific model.

Manufacturer source only. Installation manuals, specification sheets, and technical drawings published by the maker of the fixture.
Attributed per check. Each check in your report names the document its requirement came from, and links out to it so you can read the figure in its original context.
No inference. Where a manufacturer does not publish a figure, that requirement is left unstated rather than estimated from a similar model.
Re-checked on change. When a manufacturer revises a document, the catalogue entry is updated to match it.

This is why a report can come back with open items. The app would rather show you an honest gap than a confident number nobody published.

What this app does not do

Bidets: Smart Toilet Fit is a measurement and comparison tool. It is deliberately narrow.

Not an installation service, and not a substitute for a professional

It does not install, remove, or modify any fixture, supply line, or electrical outlet.
It does not replace a licensed plumber or a licensed electrician, and it does not assess the condition of your plumbing, wiring, floor, or wall.
It does not replace the manufacturer’s installation instructions, which govern the actual installation of the product.
It does not check your work against local plumbing or electrical code. Code requirements vary by jurisdiction and may be stricter than a manufacturer’s minimum.
It does not sell fixtures, take commissions, or rank models by anything other than whether they clear your measurements.

A passing report means your measurements clear the manufacturer’s published requirements. Confirming that the installation itself is safe and compliant is work for a licensed professional.

Reporting a wrong specification

If you believe a figure in the app is wrong, we want to know — a bad specification is a worse bug than a crash. Send the model name, the check in question, and the manufacturer document you are reading, to support@bidets.app.

Include your report only if you want to. It is not needed to investigate a specification error, and nothing is sent to us automatically.
